Viola

Most people haven't heard of the viola, they have heard of the violin, the main difference is that the viola plays lower notes. It is very good, because I am trying to get more viola players in our school, and now there are quite a few.

I am adding a new topic, it is music. i play 3 instruments, the viola, the bassoon and the piano, all to at least Grade 5 AB standard. i have also done Grade 5 theory, and play in lots of musical groups.

there was a Kent Chess tournament at the weekend, it was on Saturday, and 3 people from DCPS were meant to turn up! Unfortuneatly, only 2 people turned up. Both of us won 2 out of 5 matches!

Also, on Saturday there was a qualifier for a massive tournament and our under11 team qualified for the next round!

A Barnet tournament also took place on Sunday, with 2 DCPS boys entering, one got 4.5/6 in the U12s, and one got 4/6 in the U18s!

I forgot to mention how to play!



Here are the basics- You lose if your KING is attacked and cannot move!



Your King can move in any dirction for one square.



Your Queen can move in any direction for an unlimited amount of spaces!

They are the two most important pieces in chess, protect them and they might protect you
